On the evening of 3rd November, Bonfires and fireworks celebrate the thwarting of 'The Gunpowder Plot'. The actual date should be the 5th but we have got more flexible with time.
This is a NOAA 17 pass at approximately 9.00 pm. The channel 3 IR image shows 'hot spots' as black. The hot spots of Newport, South Wales, Scunthorpe and probably those close to the mouth of the Rhine are Steel works. The rest must be related to bonfires. Similar was seen last year (in clearer skies) and again in spring when the eastern Netherlands celebrated with bonfires.
